The COVID-19 Virus continues to have a devastating impact across Louisiana. The safety of all our members and their families continues to be our primary focus. As we look at states around us and across the country re-open, we must remember Louisiana continues to be listed as a global hotspot for the pandemic. Louisiana has had more cases per 100,000 residents than any other state in the US and the numbers of those infected and of those who have succumbed to the virus mount steadily.
Throughout this pandemic, the Governor has acted in close concert with the Federal Coronavirus Task Force and has tailored the State’s response to the process set forth in its Opening Up America Again Guidelines. These Guidelines establish a measured, science-based phasing process with Gating Criteria that must be met before moving to the next Phase. Presently, Louisiana is still in Phase 2 which has severely curtailed permissible soccer activities across the state.
In developing and publishing our
Return to Play Phasing, Protocol and Responsibilities last April, LSA followed and continues to follow, the direction of the Governor and the Louisiana Department of Health and their adherance to CDC Guidelines. We also followed recommendations, policies and protocols developed by US Youth Soccer, US Soccer and the US Olympic Committee. We are in constant contact with the state associations in the South Region and beyond. Just as COVID-19 has consumed all of our lives, it has consumed our workload here at LSA.
Our goal here is to keep our soccer families safe in these unprecedented times and to encourage us all to look forward to the fall and our return to the game.
